Time flies when you’re having fun! All of a sudden it was time for us to pack up and move on to our next location: Surfers Paradise! We have a short amount of time there so luckily today’s journey was much shorter than the recent 12 hour bus journey. We packed up and headed out of the hostel in time to catch our bus.
Waving goodbye to Byron Bay our friendly bus driver told us there would be a meal stop about halfway through our journey. This was perfectly timed for lunch so we treated ourselves to some avo toast.
Before we knew it we’d arrived in Surfers Paradise! A totally different vibe to Byron Bay with its high rises and resort town feel, our first impressions were summarised with these guys parked at the bus station.
We dropped our stuff at the hostel and headed straight back out to get our bearings and find the beach!
Even the beach was very different to Byron Bay, expansive, almost as far as you could see and reminiscent of a certain 2010 Leonardo DiCaprio movie.
We certainly found plenty of space for us to muck about for the afternoon though!
10 points if you spot me cartwheeling!
Heading away from the beach we decided to wander round the town and headed inland. On our way we came across an evening market on the boulevard which specalised in all the essentials, from head massagers to “handmade” crafts, to bouncy balls!
We found a lovely peaceful spot along the riverside and spent some time chilling out here, watching the sunset.
We opted for a light meal for dinner this evening and finished off with a little ice cream, as is customary when beside the seaside!
Our flying visit to Surfers Paradise is almost over, as tomorrow, we were off to Brisbane!

It really is a whistle stop tour! 😄
