1 Week to go!
As I type this, I think about how quickly this previous week has gone and how the next will only go quicker. I’ve more or less struck it off in my brain as a whirlwind of excitement, packing and general disorientation and then before we know it, we’ll be in the air on our way to start our Grande Adventure!
This last week we’ve managed to tick quite a lot off the to-do list and while I have of course found other stuff to add to it, it’s not nearly as scary as last week. Saturday and Sunday led me on a mission to find, collect and organise any last minute (and often pretty important) bits and bobs. We’ve also really gotten underway with packing and disposing of stuff (for any of you who wondered: the christmas decorations are still in the loft, but the pen collection has depleted) and our bags are even beginning to collect things for the trip…wouldn’t be surprised if we just found more pens in them at this rate!
Tomorrow is our last day at work and our last day of normality before Blast-Off and so there’s a bittersweetness to it. Both myself and James have been lucky enough to work with some excellent people over the last few years and the sadness in saying goodbye feels the same as a friendship. Everyone has been so supportive, and without the experiences we’ve gained and the people we’ve met over the years, we may not have felt able to take the opportunity we have.
In our immediate future however, we are most definitely looking forward to tomorrow evening’s Par-tay, a get together for a proper send off and to throw some proper shapes on the dancefloor! More on that later though…
