New York: Day 4

It was our last full day in New York and despite the rainy weather, we wanted to make the most of it.

Atmospheric

Having explored a lot of Manhattan and even taken a trip to Staten Island we realised one place we hadn’t yet set foot, was Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Bridge has a walkway, so we all know what that means

Despite the weather and our tired feet we decided to walk over to Brooklyn to take advantage of any views we could see when passing over the bridge. And to get up close to the famous bridge itself.

Moody
The buildings are usually a lot taller
Little police carts had taken up post on the bridge itself

The walkway is elevated over the roadway which meant for nicer views, and no spray from cars speeding by.

Oh look you can see the East River through the cracks…lovely..
Tea is life, particularly when the weather is like this!
Stone archways
The bridge really is a feat of engineering
Ethereal
It’s much easier to catch the lock fiends when they leave their names on the padlock!
James does modelling now

After our intrepid quest across the Brooklyn Bridge, we finally reached the shore and were ready to explore more of Brooklyn.

We finally reached Brooklyn’s shore

We didn’t have a solid plan for our time in Brooklyn and spent some time wandering around the area.

Cool street art gave me doodle cravings

We soon found ourselves in Prospect Park. Another large green space in New York City, although nothing on the size of Central Park it was a lovely walk round and shelter from the rain for a bit.

Autumn is still in the air

All this walking, or swimming, about really got up our appetite. There’s only so many more opportunities to eat enormous amounts of pizza so we took the opportunity.

The look of longing

After filling ourselves with pizza (and shame) we decided to walk back to the hotel and enjoy the views from the bridge by night.

more fairy lights
that view tho

The day can’t be all fun and games and with the evening set aside for some laundry we took up a spot in a cosy cafe across the street from the laundromat while we hopped too and fro keeping an eye on our precious garments.

The cafe in question

And on that calmer note, we headed to the hotel to rest up before our last day in New York City.

  1. Is that the real James or superimposed James on the catwalk?! Camera trickery me thinks!!! Or perfect lines and disappearing horizon. You have well walked feet – in fact they have been all round the world now!

  2. The Autumn colours are still spectacular even in the rain.
That wasn’t a whole one of those pizzas each was it !? 🙀
The walk across the Brooklyn Bridge looked nice. I couldn’t look down though! 😜
