Hong Kong: Day 6 > SGN

Today was a very special day, not because it was our last day in HK, but because it was Hatti’s birthday! Although there was a good bit of traveling ahead of us later in the day, we checked out at a responsible time and hit the streets to soak in a little more of the vibrance!

The streets.

Fortunately within minutes we found an item close to top of the list of things H wanted to do on reaching 26. No.6: Dominate a play park.

The lucky contender.
The domination.

Once we had drained a little bit of the remaining youthful energy we ventured on, after a quick walk on the park’s reflexology foot path. A recent study suggests that foot reflexology has been found to reduce blood pressure, improve balance and physical performance… in adults over 60. Yes, we’re slightly ahead of the pebble game, but better early than never.

Relaxing reflexology…

Back on track we stumbled upon a street market, always interesting to peruse the wears, mostly collections of unusual second hand goods.

Where’s Singer?
Hatti takes a call from the past.

We saw a few things that would have made good mementos of the trip, but the idea of lugging a brass door nob around the rest of the world was too much to handle.

Which is your favourite?

We then had an impromptu photoshoot with Hong Kong Living, a media company who produce the magazine Mid Levels Magazine. Unfortunately it is unlikely we will ever see the picture as the magazine is exclusively targeted toward folks living in buildings with a value over HKD$25 million, or with a monthly salary of HKD$268,000!

Lunch had once more descended on us. We recalled seeing a ‘Vegan Bistro’ sign somewhere near Central, so we headed North-East on a search. The scouts returned, empty handed… so we ate the scouts.

Scout pie with green apple salad and a balsamic glaze.

It was time to return to the hotel, grab our bags, and jump on the airport express, a 24min train from Hong Kong island to the airport.

The team.

On reaching the airport we were keen to mark Hatti’s birthday with a slice of cake… we searched high and low only to find a suitable chunk at McCafé, a shoot off of the fabled McRestaurant.

Cut the mustard.

Thank you Hong Kong, it has been excellent. Now off to Vietnam for a couple of days!

Ho Chi Mihn city here we come!

  1. Now I understand why I like walking barefoot on pebbles! Now if only someone could invent transportable pebble mats (lightweight of course!) ?!!!
