Bangkok: Day 3

We fancied a bit of walking today, as while on the tour we often took tuk-tuks or taxi’s around town to speed things up, and to keep to the predetermined, high intensity schedule. Today’s itinerary was much more… open, so we went for a stroll.

Aiming to see the oldest gardens in Bangkok, built in 1925… we headed in the direction of a different park… after interpreting the map differently.

On route were more well embellished temples.
Rommaninat Park… not Lumpini Park… but still delightfully peaceful.
After some retrospective reading the feature watchtowers were in fact relics from the prison that used to occupy the site.
Park-wide megaphones were in operation, playing jovial classics from the USSR.
Wildlife was encountered; squirrels were seen prancing around. Black, red and grey.
The park authority had pulled out all of the stops in catering for the youth. WIFI was provided.
Terrazzo-esque precast furniture. Softer in appearance than their concrete counterparts… but ultimately just as hard.
The park’s inherited watchtowers reminded me of a design used in the Age of Empires video game.
We followed a canal that linked the two parks that we visited.
When the canal became unpassable, H found a bridge!

The second park had;

A nursery.
A crazy looking fountain. Heff, one of your masterpieces?
…and an open air gym!

After a good amount of parklife, we yo-yoed between various closed galleries and museums! Finally opted to head back to the hotel to get some shade and cool off a little.

Probably closed yo.

Having skipped lunch, breakfast was a feast, our minds jumped to food. In need of a guaranteed good feed. Ethos, again, did us proud.

This time joined by a fairly laid-back cat!

It was an early start for our flight to Bali the next day, 2am, so we headed to bed in hope of a few winks.
